Isobel Kanani's Story
I can't believe its been 40 years since high school. It was great seeing the many faces at the 40th reunion.
Me....
I was married in Hawaii in 1971, had two sons ten months apart, in 1973 & 1974 but divorced in 1981. Worked for MidPac Country Club in Lanikai, Bank of Hawaii, The Fronk Clinic and then GTE Hawaiian Tel for 25 years retiring from there on the island of Saipan in the Northern Marianas Islands. Lived in Saipan for 7 years then returned to Hawaii, I've been back home for six years now.
After my divorce I remained single for 19 years then I married a Chinese national from Beijing. He lives in China and I live here. I enjoy spending time with my girl buddies whenever I can. ugh I've lost contact with Joyce, Lynn and I continue to be good friends and communicate when we can.
I work a lot but have had to slow down the last three years. I used to enjoy dancing of all kinds and taught hula for several years and even did ballroom dancing which I loved. I currently work for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs under their nonprofit organization. Like with most life has its ups and downs. I count my blessings having the opportunity to have met people of various cultures and to have experienced some of lifes offerings.
I became a grandmother for the first time this year. Both my sons each had a son of their own. I love being a tutu. After being a single mother for many years, I'm hoping to expand my social life by again meeting new people and renewing old friendships. Mahalo
